Mary Grogan has been in my life for quite some time now and it's not hard to see that she's basically Superwoman. She's a mom, wife, full time teacher and theater director, and so much more. Back in high school she directed me in the school plays and musicals, we went on to collaborate on several cool performance projects, and I've loved that we've become such dear friends over the years. Her and her husband Mark always know how to make me feel like family!
A few years ago I had the honor of taking their daughter Addie's newborn and One Year photos, and this time I was asked to photograph their entire family. It was such a pleasure spending time with this group and getting to chase the kids around the family's beautiful property.
We were thrown some unexpected circumstances that were out of our control the day of our session. It had rained the night before and drizzled that morning, and after days of spectacular weather we were given quite the chilly morning for photographs. But Mary came absolutely and totally prepared! She had several bags of props and decorations for a picnic/tea party setup, blankets, snacks, rain boots, extra clothes... I was blown away. When she told me she had it all covered, she truly had it covered!
So despite the chill and wet environment we all pushed through, chased some bubbles, picked flowers, and had a grand ole time. I was quite pleased with what we captured! Not to mention our little portion in the field at the end of the shoot turned out to be incredibly dreamy. Those violets and emeralds make my heart swoon. ♥
